As of 10:00 am, all of the Colorado and Missouri bulls have been sold. There are still seven bulls available in Texas. If not purchased today, the prices on those bulls will be rolled back $250 at midnight.

You are correct... I know people who will not purchase masculine-looking bulls for the same reason. My dad was guilty of this. If you purchase bulls or rams that are narrow in the shoulders, you are purchasing sub-fertile animals. Masculine-looking bulls and rams did NOT look that way the day they were born.

The status quo Republicans hate trump just as much as the Democrats and Liberals. We still need to drain the swamp. Trump cannot do it by himself.

I've never heard anyone refer to enjoying a thin juicy steak. Making cuts larger ruins the eating experience for many.

Good thoughts, Tim... I think there will be more opportunities to start a business in beef production and/or to expand a business in beef production in the next few years than there have been in the last 20 years.

Brian, I love that quote -- and have done my best to live my life by it. The people you associate with can make you or break you.

This may be the opportunity of a lifetime for young, want-to-be producers with an open mind.

No... I don't think prices will go as low as they were in 2002. However, I do think prices will continue to go lower. Since most cattlemen are losing money now, this will not be good for members of the status quo herd with high-maintenance cows.

I have never seen 3 and 4 frame calves docked at the sale bar, They are NOT as small as you probably think they are. Calves that weigh less bring more per pound than heavier calves. Low-maintenance, 3 and 4 frame cows will ALWAYS wean more total pounds because your ranch can support more of those cows -- often 30% more. The calves out of 3 and 4 frame cows will usually weigh less (individually) than calves out of 5 to 7 frame cows. Therefore, they will be worth more per pound. More total pounds that are worth more per pond is a no-brainer.

I'm sure Dr. Winters would not reccomend it -- unless you were in an area that suffered lots of losses to black leg.

Louis, we will have a producer from South Africca at both of our bull workdays. Status quo producers are the same in South QAfrica as they are in America. They have spent their entire life trying to increase production per animal -- insdtead of production per acre or haectare. Consequently, they have big, high-maintenance cows. They also do a very poor job of managing their forage resources. Do the opposite and you will be a contrarian. You will probbaly be able to increase your profit per hectare bu 50% to over 300%
