It’s easy to get caught up in the world’s issues, like the war in Iran. While we need to be aware of what is going on and why, we can’t let it consume us. Yes, it will cause disruptions to the price of oil and fertilizer. We may have to budget and plan differently during this period of unusually high prices.

Events like this reinforce the PCC® theme of low inputs. Most PCC customers have limited their use of “diesel” inputs, including winter feeding and synthetic fertilizers.

While we can complain about the price of oil and fertilizer, this does nothing to help in the current situation. For those still stuck in the Beef Industrial Complex paradigm of high inputs, the war in Iran may be the prodding you need to consider alternative methods.

The first and easiest thing you can control is your genetics. Start by using low-input, moderate-framed and highly fertile bulls. In a couple of generations, you will notice a huge reduction in inputs. PCC is the leader in low-input genetics that will move your herd in the right direction. Let us help you reduce your input costs!
