This week my wife and I are driving across the west from Montrose, Colorado, to Kent, Washington, to spend the holiday with our daughter and her family.  We got our cattle squared away on good grazing, put the dog in the car and headed out.  We drove through Utah, with places like Yellowcat, Price, Spanish Fork, and Ogden.  We stopped off in Twin Falls, Idaho, and had a good visit with some dear friends.  Today we’ll drive through Oregon, Washington and rain.

The clouds partially obscured our view this morning, but we were reminded how vast the west is with its millions of acres of rangeland, all of which would be useless without the cattle industry.  During the drive, we saw a lot of cattle out grazing, turning dry fodder into tasty protein for human consumption.

Wherever you are, east, west, north or south, don’t forget that the work you do is vitally important to the health and wealth of our nation.  It is rare that you would be praised or thanked for all your sacrifice and hard work.

As 2025 draws to a close, Pharo Cattle Company® wishes you a Merry Christmas, a profitable new year, and a big thank you for all you do.  I’ll see you next time on the Herd Quitter® Minute.
