I have been talking about fear and change the last couple of weeks. Change is “different,” which can cause some discomfort and fear of the unknown. Fear can be paralyzing and irrational. So, how do we move past fear to make the changes we know we need to make?

Last week, I shared my fears of wearing shorts on my vacation in Hawaii. I’m just getting back, and boy am I glad I had shorts to wear! Jeans and boots would have been very uncomfortable, to say the least.

I know this is a silly example – but look back on some of the positive outcomes where you made a change that you were unsure of. At the time, I’m sure it was serious and the fear was real. Looking back… is it still that serious or does that fear seem silly and unfounded now?

This is my point… To get to where we can make the necessary changes and try something “different,” we need to practice facing our fears. It gets easier every time. Yes, humans are irrational beings, so you will have to practice your entire life. Hopefully, you can get to a point where you can say, “That wasn’t so bad!”
