We spend a lot of our time taking care of daily tasks. From kids to chores, cows, and fields, we rarely have any spare time to enjoy life. Dying Breed pointed out this phenomenon in a recent blog. Kids see their parents running a busy life. “Each generation is focused on getting the next ready to live, but no one actually lives.”
This is especially true in agriculture. We seem to busy ourselves so much that we don’t really get to take a minute to enjoy life. Yes, there will always be things that need to get done, but we can’t forget that the purpose of life is not to be busy, but to be happy!
Dying Breed sums it up nicely: “Happily, in enjoying adulthood ourselves, we become better parents; kids learn what a good life looks like by watching us live one. In pursuing our own passions, relationships, and projects, we build a richer life — and model a pattern truly worth passing on.”
Take some time to enjoy the party. Learn to simplify things. Know when some things can wait. You only get one life; enjoy it while you can!
