As a coach, I am constantly telling my athletes to make sure they are hanging with the “right” crowd. Not only does this help them stay out of trouble, but it also encourages them to be successful. Shane Parrish shared something similar in his blog this week:

“Being around successful people shifts your ambition because extraordinary success feels attainable. And when success feels attainable, you lock in and work longer, harder, and with more focus.”

Success breeds success, just as failure breeds failure. I feel like a lot of people in agriculture just want to complain. If it’s not the weather, it’s commodity prices, or the neighbors, or the political situation. Being around these types of people can bring anyone to despair!

Honestly, this is why I avoid most Ag groups. They seem like they want to get together just to complain, rather than do anything productive to change their situation. Or they bash those who are successful. I don’t have an appetite for this kind of behavior.

I like being around people who challenge me to improve, not people who belittle me for doing something different. Successful people always have tips on what has worked for them and why. Just being around their energy is often encouragement enough.

This is why I love the PCC® crowd. They are always upbeat, energetic, and generally have a positive attitude. Being a part of the PCC Discussion Group has also been extremely helpful. It’s full of answers to some complicated questions and provides great insight into many overlooked details. I have to say, this group is worth way more than the cost of a bull!
