Farmers and ranchers need to learn how to work smarter – NOT harder. I have met very few farmers or ranchers that I would consider to be lazy. Most are very hard workers.
Unfortunately, most farmers and ranchers are not so good at working smarter. They would rather do minimum-wage labor work than entrepreneurial and management type work. While the most successful producers I know of enjoy riding a horse and/or driving a tractor – they always set aside time to drive the desk.
