We used a couple of young virgin bulls on our yearling heifers here at PCC® Headquarters – an Angus and a Red Angus. They were turned out for a 45-day breeding season around the first of August.
Both bulls gained weight – even under severe drought conditions. It is extremely rare for our low-input, grass-developed bulls to not gain substantial weight during their first breeding season.
Pictured above is PCC Muy Bueno the day he was removed from the heifers. We think he gained over 200 pounds. His sire is PCC Forte, who has been one of my all-time favorite Red Angus bulls. Some think Muy Bueno will prove to be better. We are collecting him for export. Soon, there will be Muy Bueno calves all over the world.
