Yesterday afternoon, I gave a partial ranch tour to Lilwen Joynson from Wales. Hopefully, we will finish that tour this morning. Lilwen and I had not communicated much prior to her visit, so neither of us knew what to expect.
Fortunately, Lilwen asked the right questions – and we hit it off immediately. Like Pharo Cattle Company®, she is passionate about making farms around the world more profitable, enjoyable and sustainable. She found us because she wanted to visit some regenerative cow-calf operations. I think she discovered that PCC® is much more than what she expected us to be.

We spent most of our time yesterday with a group of two-year-old PCC heifers with their first calves. These young cows are slick, shiny and in great condition. See picture above. They essentially had NO flies! In contrast, all of the non-PCC herds we drove past yesterday were bunched up fighting flies.
Do the math… Research has shown that blood-sucking horn flies can reduce daily gains by as much as half a pound per day. That can amount to 50 to 100 pounds per calf at weaning. At today’s prices, you stand to lose up to $400 per calf. WOW! What’s a bull worth that can genetically improve the fly resistance of your herd?
