When I’m getting ready to start a major project, define a new goal, or embark on anything of significance, I start by checking my attitude. I am much more productive and successful if I start with the right attitude. Shane Parrish shared a similar thought in his weekly blog:

“You can’t outperform your attitude. What you believe about the work shows up in how you do the work, and how you do the work determines your results. Fix the attitude first. Everything else follows.”

Attitude sets the tone. When things aren’t going as planned, it’s often due to a poor attitude. Similarly, a good attitude can overcome many obstacles.

Adjusting my attitude can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. It’s hard to believe that something so simple can affect so much. The next time things aren’t going as planned, take a minute and adjust your attitude. You will be surprised how much of a difference it can make!
