No matter what the business is, very few in that business will ever have a competitive advantage.   Why is that?   The reason very few people will ever have a competitive advantage is because nearly everyone is essentially doing the same thing everyone else in their business is doing.   They are part of the status quo herd.   It is impossible to be above average if you are doing what everyone else is doing.

I’m sure many PCC subscribers are thinking it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for them to acquire a competitive advantage.   Ironically, that is precisely why competitive advantages are so readily available – but only for the few who have the ability to think outside the herd.   The reason most producers will never have a competitive advantage is because they are afraid to leave the so-called “comfort” of the status quo herd.   They are content with being average.   They fail to realize they must be different to truly excel.   The first step to becoming extraordinary is to stop being ordinary.

No matter what the market and the weather are doing, a few producers will always be increasing their wealth while everyone else is doing good just to break even.   How can that be?   The few who make most of the money are contrarians or Herd Quitters.   They do the opposite of what members of the status quo herd are doing.   They sell when everyone else is buying.   They buy when everyone else is selling.   They focus on increasing production per acre while everyone else remains focused on increasing production per animal.   They think for themselves while everyone else is adhering to the status quo, herd-mentality way of thinking.

I know from personal experience that it is not always easy to be a contrarian or a Herd Quitter.   It is not always easy to do what your neighbors would never think about doing.   It is not always easy to be criticized and ridiculed by so-called “leaders” within the beef industry.   Being a contrarian or a Herd Quitter may not be easy – but it will ALWAYS be worth the effort.   The most successful people throughout history (those who made history) were contrarians.   I encourage you to seriously consider the benefits of being a contrarian.

We want to help…   Pharo Cattle Company does much more than just sell bulls.   We provide a program and a way of thinking that are focused on increasing profit and enjoyment – in good times and in not-so-good times.   Our low-maintenance bulls are just one part of this program.   Our business is helping you – and we take it very seriously.

Quote Worth Re-Quoting –

“Most people would rather fail conventionally than succeed unconventionally.   This is why 1% of the U.S. population earns 37% of the national income.   Following the crowd is not the way to achieve wealth.”   ~ Allan Nation
