When you look at a cow from the side and from the top, she should get wider and deeper from her head to her rear. This wedge shape is very indicative of fertility, grass efficiency and productivity. When you look at a bull from the side and from the top, he should be wider and deeper in the front – broad in the shoulders and narrow in the hips.
Bulls and cows should be wedge shaped in the opposite direction. Compare the wedge-shaped Pharo cow and bull on the right below to the status quo rectangular-shaped cow and bull on the left. Notice the narrow-in-the-hip Pharo bull still has twice as much muscle in his hip as the rectangular bull.

The rectangular shape in cows and bulls is indicative of sub-fertility and the dependence on high-energy feed. This is one of several reasons our low-input, wedge-shaped Solar Bulls can breed twice as many cows for twice as many years as high-input, rectangular-shaped Diesel Bulls.
Time to Trade Up
Now would be a GREAT TIME to trade up with your bulls. Used status quo Diesel Bulls are selling for ridiculously high prices. Most are selling for $1.70 to 1.85 per pound. At $1.80 per pound, a 2000-pound bull is worth $3600.
Sell your high-input Diesel Bulls and replace them with low-input Solar Bulls. As the cost of inputs continues to increase, you will eventually be forced to produce low-maintenance cows – or to get out of the business. High-input diesel cattle will eventually go the way of the dinosaurs.
