After 38 years of private research, Frank Hendrix found a way to DNA test beef animals for superior tenderness. He first took his test to a couple of big-name AI companies because their bulls are in the pedigree of most of the beef animals in America. For over 40 years, the big-name AI companies have been winning the race to increase the growth and the size of our cattle.
Frank was surprised that less than 2% of their high-growth bulls tested positive for TENET®. He became discouraged and didn’t know where to go next. Last year, Frank heard about Pharo Cattle Company™ and liked what he saw. He subscribed to our PCC™ Updates – and sent me an introductory email. In contrast to the Big Boys, a whopping 64% of our AI sires tested positive for TENET®. No one expected that – but no one was totally surprised either. After all, our low-maintenance, grass-efficient genetics are the total opposite of the high-maintenance status quo genetics. As mentioned in “The Tenderness Problem” article above, I have reason to believe the 40-year race to make cattle bigger has created major problems for beef tenderness.
Although we mentioned TENET® Beef in three PCC Updates last fall, we were not at liberty to discuss specific bulls until we signed a Trademark License Agreement with TENET®. Because of our fall bull sales and other factors, we did not sign that agreement until the last day of 2024.
