Almost 6-year-old red composite herd bull out of PCC bull – 1/4 Red Angus, 1/4 Senepol, 3/16 Gelbvieh, 3/16 Hereford, 1/8 Limousin
Born 3/27/2020; Sire is PCC WFF Chisholm 7521C (1/2 Red Angus, 1/2 Senepol); Dam is a Gelbvieh, Hereford, Limousin cross. Sire’s Red Angus Assoc. registration is included in photos.
We have used this bull on dairy and dairy cross cows and heifers and been very pleased with him – can send photos of calves upon request. I have never, in decades of raising cattle seen calves up and nursing so fast – some as quick as 15 minutes regardless of the weather and temperature. Calves are born light, get up quickly, and are very determined to nurse.
Tons of muscle, excellent disposition, and a real go-getter at breeding cows. He gets everything bred. We ran him with fullblood dairy cows and a few dairy x beef and all calves taken to the sale barn are grouped with beef calves. Despite the genetic make-up of his dam, I believe he is homozygous polled as we have never had a calf with horns or scurs.
We purchased him from a breeder in MO as a coming 2-year-old. He is on rough pasture 24/7 with very minimal grain (only when we throw a little feed to get them to come up for checks when close to calving). Excellent bull that keeps his condition throughout the year.
We sold about half of our cows and all heifer calves this year due to high prices and I honestly don’t have enough cows left to keep him busy.
