Déjà vu
continues to be one of our most popular Colorado Hobo sons. He will
be 10 years old this spring. As a calf, he reminded us so much of his
sire that we called him Déjà vu. This is a calving ease
bull with extreme power and thickness. Déjà vu’s
birth weight and calving ease direct EPDs are both in the top 10% of
the Red Angus breed. His momma is a fault-free, 1120-pound cow that
is still working at 14 years of age. Déjà vu’s
maintenance energy (ME) EPD is in the top 6% of the Red Angus breed.

Colorado
Hobo continues to redefine industry standards for thickness, fleshing
ability
and capacity. He is having a monumental impact on the Red Angus breed.
Sons and daughters are excelling in grass-based programs all over the
world. For nine years, Colorado Hobo was used naturally on 40 to 110
cows per year. When DNA tested by Igenity, he received a score of 9
out of 10 for marbling. Several outstanding Colorado Hobo sons are
working in our program — but I continue to be partial to the
original model. |

There
is “No Doubt” that this is one of the very best Colorado
Hobo sons to enter our program. Many believe No Doubt will eventually
prove to be THE BEST! He is a real meat wagon — with a birth
weight EPD that is in the top 15% of the Red Angus breed. Everyone
who has used this bull says his calves are the best they’ve ever
produced. No Doubt goes back to Anchor and Vanesa 5900 on the bottom
side of his pedigree. His pedigree is stacked for maternal greatness.
No Doubt is co-owned with Ozark Hills and Ohlde Cattle Co.

Arapahoe
is a consistent frame reducer and disposition improver. His dam is
my all-time favorite Red Angus cow. She weaned her last calf at the
age of 15. Her maintenance energy EPD is in the top one half of 1%
for the Red Angus breed. She was as close to NO-input as we have ever
seen. Arapahoe’s maintenance energy EPD is in the top 10% of
the Red Angus breed. He will produce efficient, low-maintenance, long-lasting,
good-uddered females. Co-owned with the Rhoades Ranch. |

Cinco de Mayo is a deep-bodied,
slick-haired, early-shedding bull that is working great in the east and southeast — as
well as in the west. His daughters are high-volume, moderate-sized, perfect-uddered
cows that everyone loves. Cinco’s dam was a fault-free 1080 pound cow
that had a tremendous impact on our Red Angus program. She is the maternal
grand dam of Arapahoe. She came up open at 12 years of age, so we sold her.
Cinco de Mayo is co-owned with Ozark Hills Red Angus. |

Marias is somewhat
of an outcross to our program. He is a TANK with a GREAT disposition!
We have high hopes for this high-capacity bull. His dam is a very nice,
fault-free, tight-uddered, 14-year-old cow that looks much younger
than she is. Every Marias daughter we have seen has an absolutely perfect
udder with small teats. Marias also passes on phenomenal marbling and
ribeye area. He is co-owned with Reinart’s Prairie Reds in Iowa
and Maplewood Acres Farm in Missouri.

Lancelot had explosive
growth from birth to a year of age. His weaning index was 113%. His
yearling index was 114%, and his gain on test index was an amazing
130%. When you can pack this much performance in a 4.5 frame bull,
you really have something. Lancelot’s maintenance energy EPD
is in the top 10% of the breed. His daughters are the keeping kind.
Lancelot is co-owned with Cody McDaniel and Red Fork Red Angus.

Keepsake is
a forage-tested bull that sold in our 2003 Colorado Spring Bull Sale.
He was our lead-off Colorado Hobo son. He went to Arkansas, but could
not deal with the infected fescue. Soon after we brought him home,
our vet gave him a clean bill of health. Keepsake is homozygous for
both the GeneStar and TenderGENE DNA tests for tenderness. When it
comes to beef on the dinner plate, we believe tenderness is the most
important trait to select for. Co-owned with the Rhoades Ranch and
Bobby Umberson.

We
have been looking for a son of the great Oscar 0366 bull for several
years. 0366 is a 1990 model. He has consistently produced small-framed,
good-uddered, easy-fleshing cows that last and last. Center Stage combines
extreme calving ease with tremendous thickness. His birth weight EPD
is in the top 6% of the Red Angus breed. His maintenance energy EPD
is in the top 3% of the Red Angus breed. Our first Center Stage sired
calves are everything we hoped they would be. Co-owned with Red Fork
Red Angus.

Colorado Special is an ET calf out of
a well-proven, perfect-uddered, 14-year old cow that we love. He happens
to be a full brother to Déjà vu. He is a very thick, easy-fleshing,
well-muscled, forage-tested bull with superb masculinity and testicular
development. We have no use for those flat-muscled, slab-sided, cow-headed,
small-nutted, sissy bulls. Colorado Special is co-owned with Red Fork
Red Angus.

Pace Setter was
a thick, deep-ribbed Colorado Hobo son with a little extra growth,
performance and frame. His dam was a very efficient, good-uddered Hero
daughter that only weighed 1085 as an 11-year old. She weaned 56% of
her own weight in this good bull calf. Pace Setter has Lman Hero 9558
on both sides of his pedigree. Limited semen inventory — priced
to sell!
